As a business offering virtual assistant services I am always on the lookout for tools and resources which make working virtually more efficient and allows us to assist our clients better.
Here’s my list of 10 favourite FREE iPhone Apps for business:
Wunderlist
The Wunderlist App is an easy-to-use task manager. I use Wunderlist to manage my business, client work, subcontractors and personal life. I have numerous ‘lists’ set up for each main element and within the lists, are the tasks. These can be prioritised with a ‘star’ placing it at the top above other tasks. Each task can be allocated a date, so when you come to ‘Today’, your day is organised with what you need to achieve. The iPhone App syncs with the web account, so when you’re out and about and you think of something you need to do, add it as a task to the relevant list, add the date for it to be done and when that day arrives, it will be there on your ‘Today’ list of tasks. Too easy!
Evernote
The Evernote App is an easy-to-use app that helps you remember everything across all of the devices you use. It syncs with the web account, allowing you to save your ideas and improve productivity. Evernote lets you take notes, capture photos, create to-do lists, record voice reminders and makes these notes completely searchable, whether you are at home, at work, or on the go with its ‘tag’ system.
ANZgoMoney
My business bank account is with ANZ and I fell in love with the ANZGoMoney App. ANZgoMoney is a new way to bank on the go! It is designed specifically for your iPhone so that it’s easy to use, secure and friendly on your mobile data plan.
Hootsuite
Hootsuite is still my choice social media dashboard where I can easily monitor and manage our social media accounts and I do find the Hootsuite App extremely useful and easy to use when out and about.
Flipboard serves two purposes. I read it as a social magazine, covering topics such as business, technology, travel, news and Flipboard’s own picks. The nature of the informative topics allows for great content curation which can be very easily shared to Twitter via the Flipboard App.
Facebook for Pages
Together with the usual Facebook iPhone App, I have now installed the recently launched Facebook Pages Manager App. This App allows better monitoring of all the Pages I am an Admin of. I receive push notifications of any comments made on the Pages and it also allows viewing of the Page Insights.
Google+
I’ve been on Google+ pretty much since its inception and the Google+ App has just undergone a redesign and it really is very attractive and funky, especially when viewing photos!
The new social media player is Pinterest, though it has been around longer than G+, it really has only recently been recognised as a social business marketing tool. The Pinterest App can be quite addictive! When you find you have some quiet time, maybe sitting in a waiting room, you can easily be drawn into the visual feast Pinterest offers via the iPhone App.
The MailChimp App allows you to add new subscribers you may meet when out-and-about or when at a networking function. They may be interested in receiving your business Newsletter and you can gain their permission to add them there and then. You also have the ability to check then analytics of a recent campaign as it all syncs with the web account.
World Clock
Working with clients and contractors from all around the world, I find the World Clock App a quick and convenient tool to check out the time elsewhere before I attempt to make that Skype call!
I’d love to hear what your favourite free Apps are that assist with your business productivity and/or social marketing and how you use them.

My absolute favourite app is CamCard, fantastic when you are out and about networking. You can also email a business card to another business if you want to refer businesses. Every person I meet at a networking event I scan their business card into CamCard. Works a treat.
I’ve not heard of that one Lee. Thanks for dropping by and sharing. I’m off to check it out now! I love hearing about great tools and resources others use.
I would add the free mailVU video sharing app to the list.
Hard to argue with those Kirsty! Definitely worth checking out ‘Paper’ for the iPad. By far my favourite business app if you’re a jot down notes and scribble ideas type.
Thanks Alan and Mike for more Apps for us to check out. I’m sure there are oodles out there but it’s great to hear what others are using and for what purpose.
All interesting suggestions, although I would consider Pinterest for dedicated business only, or from a recreational point of view (I also have it and I think it’s a great and fun tool!).
Another interesting app I’ve just found out about which I think is pretty useful is Madvertise: http://madvertise.com/en/
It would be interesting to have your opinion on it!
